Welcome to the world of fishkeeping with your new AquaEl Leddy aquarium! This high-quality set is designed for simplicity and style, featuring energy-efficient LED lighting and reliable integrated equipment, making the setup process straightforward and enjoyable.

Key Features of Your Aquarium

The AquaEl Leddy set includes a rectangular glass tank with a secure cover and a dedicated space for the included equipment:

• LEDDY Tube Lighting: The heart of the unit is the integrated, low-power LED lighting unit set within the cover. This lighting is optimized to support plant growth while beautifully illuminating the colours of your fish.
• ASAP Filter: A compact and highly efficient internal power filter that ensures excellent mechanical filtration (removing particles) and biological filtration (cultivating beneficial bacteria).
• Ultra Heater: A fully submersible and adjustable glass heater designed to maintain a consistent, safe temperature for tropical fish (if you choose to keep them).

Initial Setup and Tank Cycling

Step 1: Placement

Choose a strong, level surface away from direct sunlight and draughts. Sunlight can encourage excessive algae growth, and draughts can cause rapid temperature fluctuations.

Step 2: Rinsing and Preparation

1. Glass: Wipe the glass interior with a clean, damp cloth only. Never use soap or cleaning chemicals, as residues are highly toxic to fish.
2. Substrate & Decor: Thoroughly rinse all gravel or sand and any plastic plants or rocks under tap water until the runoff is perfectly clear. Place the substrate and desired aquascape/decor inside the tank.

Step 3: Equipment Installation

1. Heater: Place the Ultra Heater in the tank and attach it to the glass using the supplied suction cups. Ensure the heating element is fully submerged before plugging it in.
2. Filter: Position the ASAP filter near the back of the tank, ensuring its water outlet is slightly below or just above the water line to create gentle surface movement.
3. Filling: Carefully fill the tank with tap water to approximately $2$cm below the rim. Apply a suitable water conditioner (dechlorinator) immediately, following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Step 4: The Nitrogen Cycle (Crucial Step)

Before adding fish, you must allow the tank to complete the nitrogen cycle. This process establishes the beneficial bacteria needed to convert toxic fish waste (ammonia) into safer compounds (nitrate).

• This process typically takes $4$ to $6$ weeks.
• Use a high-quality water testing kit to monitor Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate levels.
• Add fish only when Ammonia and Nitrite levels consistently read zero.

Routine Maintenance Schedule

Consistent maintenance is key to a healthy aquarium.

Filter Media

The ASAP Filter uses replaceable cartridges. Replace the chemical cartridges (e.g., carbon, zeolite) as instructed by the manufacturer (usually monthly). NEVER replace all biological sponges at the same time, as this will remove too many beneficial bacteria and crash the cycle.

Troubleshooting and Safety

• Condensation: The use of the cover and an internal heater will lead to condensation. This is normal.
• Water Level: Always ensure the water level is maintained above the minimum fill line required for the heater and filter operation.
• Electrical Safety: All equipment (heater, filter, light) must have a safety drip loop in its cable to ensure that any water running down the cable drips off the lowest point and does not reach the electrical plugs.
• Do not lift or move the tank when it is full of water.
